Trendy Santa Monica is Cool CA Vacation

The beautiful coastal city of Santa Monica is where the TV and play movies as-people.

There are 400 restaurants around here, when many of them "trendy" or "cool" .. Throw in some galleries, some luxury hotels and - oh yes - celebrities, and you have the makings of an eye-popping diversion from his home town every day.

Our recent visit to Santa Monica reminded us why we moved to California. The weather was one of those clear-as-a-bell LA days will bemore often than you might think, the fog was efficiently removed by some winds and moisture the day before our arrival. E 'in mind a trip years ago, we took the soggy Pacific Northwest to Los Angeles, which has led to what was the sun. We could not wait to go back to Southern California and then moved to our regular dose of California sunshine to get.

This time is from Santa Monica, as it should be. The view from PalisadesPark are breathtaking, and not only take in expansive beaches but such distant features as Malibu on the north and even Catalina in the south-west of Iceland. No wonder that half of Los Angeles to be down here seems to be jogging or walking. Wide, tree-lined and well maintained Ocean Avenue stretches along the coast offer some nice street in the center, as you see it is to consider all the modern office buildings and not historic buildings.

The Santa Monica Pier is the dominant featurethe sea - and over the water - and is a favorite for families. We stayed with our children five years in Cove, part of the Pacific Park pier, kiddie rides and, when all is said and done, our daughter said that her time on the pier, "the best day ever! "

But the Santa Monica Pier can also be very grown up. When we visited a local organization against the war, had more than 2,000 white crosses show the beach to help the population to the number of victimsthe war in Iraq. While most crosses did not name, many of them and it was obvious that the bereaved families had brought flowers and photos to create makeshift memorials on the beach.

Only from the pier are blocks and blocks of shopping in the popular downtown Third Street Promenade, an area where city fathers have taken a street and turned it into a pedestrian zone. There are fascinating shops and an unusual number of movie theaters along this walk, which seems to be winningPeople from all walks of life - young and old, rich to the homeless. On weekends there is always a selection of street musicians and animators ready to just get everyone a head and a warm applause.

Many of the restaurants in the city center are in third Street, although many others are spread in different parts of the city. Our choice dinner, Thai food, is actually about 20 blocks from the beach in the center of the city and turnedStarters to be a surprisingly low-Thai serves a wide range of expertly prepared. It is not formal, but it is good.

If you are looking for trendy - oh, there's that word again - to see the place in Santa Monica Montana Avenue. There is a section of 10 blocks of this street that led to the center of the universe for celebrity watchers because here we are told things like that famous people come and semi-real. The business is longer than the manner of aeclectic collection of specialty stores and quiet little sidewalk cafes and studios of nails per square mile than any west of New York City.

It 's impossible to go up and down Montana without wondering if the young 30-something "dressed down with jeans and a sweater is really something starlet a break between shots. Ricas Writer Irene find a list of some local celebrities in a recent article for the New York Post. "If it takes more than 24 hourssee a star in Santa Monica, "the article said," you're not looking. "The next we were an obvious paparazzi stalking Montana saw with his camera and two meters long telephoto lens. No doubt someone had tipped him about a" sighting ".

The cool factor is also the world of art in Santa Monica, where the rich and famous buy while average working hours of the corpses, looking for and could not buy. After the Santa Monica Visitors Bureau, is "exploding" with avant-garde galleries, museumsand public art. In reality, the city has on average more than 10 galleries per mile and a total of 38 works of public art.

The words "trendy" and "hip" is also used to treat many of the houses in Santa Monica can describe - in particular the small out-of-the-art boutique hotel where we stayed last year. The newest hotel in Santa Monica, the Ambrose only 77 rooms, is located about a mile and a half from the beach in a quiet residential area of Santa Monica. The hotel is the ideawanted by Deirdre Wallace, 31-year-old, who designed a similar structure in the years to travel and work in the film industry would have. The result is an impeccable taste, completely updated hotel that pays special attention to detail.

For example, a continental breakfast - including your room - is directed to Rock Wagner, restaurants local celebrity chef. The rooms are dark brown tones and soft gray-green made and furnished with period furniture,Tables and chairs. The beds have sufficient strength and are individually decorated and designed with Matteo Italian linens and blankets. Each room has been with Feng Shui in the eye that develops in our case, including a dramatic fourth-floor view of Santa Monica and the Pacific Ocean.

The Ambrose may also be a haven of health. While the honor bar in most hotels is loaded with candy and chips, Ambrose offers unique blends of fruits and nuts, vegetable chips and yogurt pretzels. InsteadSoda, water has vitamins. Another product on hand in the room is the Honey Sugar Glow for your skin, or perhaps you want to try the Power Plant Elixer Tonic.

There is also a gym for the property that a stepper, cross trainer, includes Pilates mats, balance balls, a ballet bar and a fitness library. If you want to read more than just fitness, Ambrose also has a fireplace, a library with a variety of reading material.

The Ambrose willan experience that you remember the cooler perfect for those Monday morning conversations around the water.
